Electrical panel and service upgrades around Lake Winnipesaukee.
100-amp camp services replaced so lake houses can add the loads they need.
Panel Upgrades
What a panel and service upgrade includes
A 100-amp camp service fails once you add a well pump, a generator, or a charger. We replace the panel, upsize the service when the house needs it, and pull the permit. Subpanels belong on this job when the run or the loads call for one. We give a same-day response during business hours around Winnipesaukee and Squam Lake.
- 100-amp to 200-amp service upgrades
- Panel replacements in older cottages
- Subpanels when the run or the loads call for one
- Space for a generator, an EV charger, or a mini-split
- Permits, inspection, and surge protection at the new panel
Choosing a Service Size
100-amp service or a 200-amp upgrade?
| Feature | Many lake cottages100-amp service | Most of today’s loads200-amp upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Typical fit | Older camps and cottages still on a camp service. | Homes adding heat, a well, a generator, or a Level 2 charger. |
| Capacity | Fine for light year-round use when loads stay small. | Sized for overlapping appliances and modern add-ons. |
| New loads | A generator, EV charger, or mini-split often overloads it. | Room for those loads when the calculation supports them. |
| Work usually includes | Panel replacement at the same size when the main is still enough. | Meter, service entrance, and panel upsizing when the service is short. |
| Utility | Often not needed for a same-size panel swap. | Often involved for meter and entrance work. |
| Subpanel | Can add branch capacity in one area without upsizing the main. | Still available after a 200-amp main when a long run needs local breakers. |
| Cost | Lower when only the panel changes. | Higher when the entrance and meter change with the panel. |
Questions
Common questions about panel and service upgrades
How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
Fuses, a panel older than a few decades, breakers that trip when two appliances overlap, or lights that dip when the well pump starts are the usual signs. Adding a generator, an EV charger, or a mini-split often forces the issue, because a 100-amp service was not sized for those loads.
What is a 200-amp service upgrade?
It replaces a smaller service, often 100-amp, with a 200-amp panel, meter, and entrance that can carry today's loads. We look at the service entrance and what you want to add before we recommend it.
Can you add a subpanel instead of upgrading the main?
Sometimes. A subpanel is the right move when you need more breaker space or a closer panel for a garage, addition, or heat pump. It is not a substitute for a service that is already at its limit. We tell you which before we quote.
Do you pull the permit for a panel upgrade?
Yes. Permits and inspection are part of the job in the towns we serve, including Alton, Meredith, and the Squam Lake towns. We walk you through that before we start.
How do I get a panel upgrade estimate?
Call or text 603-619-8875 or request an estimate. Same-day response during business hours. Photos of the panel help.
