Lighting Layout
What lighting layout and installation includes
Fixture plans belong on paper before drywall, not after the painter is done. We lay out recessed cans, switches, and dimmers for new construction and remodels around the lake. Fixture swaps in a finished house belong on the residential lighting page.
- Fixture schedule and switch locations before drywall
- Recessed, surface, and decorative lighting rough-in
- Dimmer and multi-way switching
- Coordinate cans and boxes with HVAC and framing
- Trim-out once paint and finishes are in
Questions
Common questions about lighting layout before drywall
What is lighting layout, as opposed to swapping a fixture?
Lighting layout is the plan for where cans, pendants, switches, and dimmers go while the framing is open. Swapping a fixture in a finished house is a different job and lives on the residential lighting page.
Why does this have to happen before drywall?
Boxes and cable have to land in the framing. Moving a can after drywall means cutting the ceiling. The plan is cheaper on paper than in a finished room.
Do you lay out recessed lighting and switches together?
Yes. Fixture locations and switch legs are one scope. We mark cans with the builder, set the boxes, and leave the switching ready for trim-out.
Can you do this on a remodel, not only a new house?
Yes. Kitchen, bath, and addition remodels around Lake Winnipesaukee and Squam Lake often need a fresh lighting plan while the ceilings are open.
How do I get a lighting layout started?
Call or text 603-619-8875 with the floor plan or a marked-up sketch. Same-day response during business hours when the schedule allows.
